  • Walking and Window Shopping on Easter Sunday

Yesterday was just a glorious day in New York.  I went for a long walk and did some window shopping.  Since it was Sunday and Easter, nearly no one was open (for shops anyway).

The Herve Leger boutique (804 Madison Ave, betw. 67th and 68th streets) had a fabulous blue bikini in the window.  It looked like it was made out of the same fabric as his famous bandage dresses, which seems a bit odd for a bathing suit… like you wouldn’t want to swim in it…  Unfortunately, I cannot find a picture of this suit anywhere.

At Guiseppe Zanotti (806 Madison Ave, betw. 67th and 68th streets), they had these super high platform sandals ($750) in the window.

I did find a wonderful spot for lunch or an early evening cocktail: Bistro Le Chat Noir on 66th Street between Madison and Fifth.  (Odd Fact – It happens to be diagonally across the street from where Imelda Marcos and all her shoes used to live!)   After walking around for a couple of hours my boyfriend and I were feeling a bit parched and a tiny bit hungry so we stopped in for some champagne and to split an appetizer.  They had a really tasty and very Spring-ish lobster salad prepared with 1/2 a lobster, mesclun greens and fresh fennel in a citrus vinaigrette.  You can check out the entire menu, here.  For the location, I would say it was a very good value too.

One of the few places that was open yesterday was Banana Republic.  I have always been a devotee of their basic tank tops.  They have changed it yet again, as they seem to do every couple of years.  I like the new style (timeless tank, $20).  One of my pet peeves is when the fabric is too thin that when you’re wearing the white one that it is completely see-through.  This one’s fabric has some substance so that is not the case.  I always get white, black and gray.  They now have the gray below (urban gray) and a standard heathered gray.

They also have the same shape done in an interesting stripe and dye effect (Stripe Tie-dye Timeless Tank, $20).  The dye effect is really cool, it’s only in the blue stripe.  I wonder how they did that?
