  • I’m a big fan of Fresh products, while a bit pricey, they are super high quality and all smell so wonderful!  I don’t think I’ve ever tried a Fresh product that I didn’t like.  They’ve come out with a great travel size skincare kit featuring their soy products.  It makes it so easy to pack, just grab and go!

    Soy Skincare Set, $38

It contains Soy Face Cleanser, Soy Face Exfoliant, Soy Face Serum and Soy Face Cream.  They’re all packed in a sleek little white zippered case.

They’ve also come out with a travel size of their Citron de Vigne fragrance in a convenient roller ball format.  This is great because fragrance is really difficult to travel with – - really, who hasn’t worried about their bottle breaking and having all your clothes perfume soaked!

Citron de Vigne Eau de Parfum Rollerball, $18.50.  If you’re not familiar with this fragrance, it has top notes of neroli, bitter orange and pink grapefruit; middle notes of Fresh’s pinot noir accord, jasmine tea leaves and lemongrass; and base notes: patchouli, sandalwood and amber.

There’s a special offer available now through the end of the day 9/24… with a $100 purchase and code CITRON at checkout you get free travel sizes of Citron de Vigne shower & bath gel and body lotion!

  • Blue Mercury caught my attention recently because they opened a beautiful new store in my neighborhood (1311 Third Avenue @75th Street New York, NY 10021).  I hadn’t been familiar with them previously.  They carry the top beauty brands like Caudalie, Bliss, Mason Pearson, Laura Mercier, etc. etc.  Here is the full list of brands.  You can also buy everything from their website.  They offer free samples with every order, free gift wrapping and free shipping on orders over $50 with code FREESHIP10.

Here are some of their recommended products this week, featuring citrus.  I LOVE the Fresh Petit Soaps.  The Bergamot Citrus and Pink Grapefruit are 2 of my favorites!

  • A while back I got a huge sample of Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask from Beauty.com.  The color of the mask (dark gray) is a little scary, but I figured I’d try it.  I’m glad I did!  I don’t have “problem skin” but who doesn’t want smaller pores?  Almost everyone has some larger pores on the sides of the nose, etc.  Well, I couldn’t believe what a good job it did!  You put it on your damp face after you’ve opened your pores with a warm wash cloth, as it dries you feel your skin tighten… it’s a weird feeling.  After it’s all dry, you rinse it off.  I definitely noticed a more refined looking skin tone!

At $21 for 3.4 fl. oz. it is also one of the better deals out there in the skincare world.  Here are the package details: When environmental toxins, dirt and debris get under your skin, its waste-filtering system gets jammed, pores get clogged, skin looks cloudy. Nature’s complexion clean-up crew gets to the bottom of skins overcast condition and clears the way for it to act its best. Activated Charcoal acts like a magnet to draw out deep-dwelling pore-cloggers, White China Clay absorbs environmental toxins, Lecithin dissolves impurities. Without all that “stuff” down there, skin “breathes a sigh of relief.”

I’m adding it to my skincare regime for sure!

  • If you’ve ever had weak, peeling, brittle nails then you know you’d pay almost anything to make them strong!  $30 seems crazy for a tiny bottle of nail polish but Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat, ($30) seems to be quite worth it.

It is a protein-rich nail coating that strengthens, seals, and protects. It creates a sheer pink coating that strengthens and hardens natural nails so they grow long and strong. The keratin-rich formula includes an optical brightener that filters out any yellow appearance in your nails, bringing out the natural color in your nail bed and making the whites of your nails appear whiter.

It also comes in a clear version, if you are averse to pink, Perfect Formula Gel Coat, $24.

  • If you feel that your skin is looking dull and needs a pick-me-up, an Oxygen mask is just the thing.  Of course you could treat yourself to a spa visit and spend upwards of $100, or you could try one of these products at home.

Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Engerzing Mask, $52 for 3.4 fl. oz. This Bliss product is designed to be a quick-fix for dull, tired, sallow, ‘I’m sick of my skin’ skin. It was engineered to mimic the effects of Bliss spa’s famous Triple Oxygen Treatment facial (but in seconds). It delivers a oxygen, Vitamin C, anti-free radicals, and moisture to the skin.

Peter Thomas Roth Radiance Oxygenating Masque, $50 for 3.4 fl. oz.  This product brightens, hydrates and oxygenates skin cells that may be compromised by environmental factors, to impart a visibly refined appearance and a polished rosy glow.  It’s good for all skin types and helps keep your skin soft, smooth and looking years younger.

  • Too Faced has come out with a new palette of eye colors in nice neutral shades to create a classy, beautiful look.  The Naked Eye Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Collection comes in one convenient box, the product is worth $73, but in this special palette it is just $35!

It includes colors: In The Buff (matte ivory), Pillow Talk (light taupe sheen), Like A Virgin (matte taupe), Birthday Suit (beige shimmer), Satin Sheets (golden champagne shimmer), Unmentionables (steel gray shimmer), Pink Cheeks (pale pink), Lap Dance (silvery taupe shimmer), and Stiletto (matte black).

And, it includes this rather brilliant how-to card, for any of us eye make-up dummies (like me) who need some help!

  • In anticipation of the upcoming release of the film adaptation of the best-selling book Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, Fresh has introduced the Fresh Eat, Pray, Love Collection of 3 fragrances and a candle set.

The first fragrance, Eat, is a sweet, effervescent scent that indulges in Italy’s most addictive desserts and sensual wines. Notes of bright Italian lemon and basil are balanced with creamy textures reminiscent of cannoli and tiramisu topped off with sparkling Prosecco and Limoncello for the ultimate gourmand experience.

Top Notes: Italian lemon, basil, bergamot

Middle Notes: plum, red currant, rose

    Bottom Notes: caramel, meringue, vanilla

The second fragrance, Pray, is inspired by India’s serene sunsets, fresh soil, and traces of incense and spices that permeate warm winds, this scent has great impact and ultimately puts you at peace with a comforting blend of jasmine, pink pepper, patchouli, amber, juniper berry, cardamom, and incense.

Top Notes: elemi, pink pepper, juniper berry

    Middle Notes: incense, peony, rose

    Base Notes: patchouli, amber, musk

The third fragrance, Love, is a fragrance that bottles the bright, colorful, anything-is-possible feelings of falling in love. Scents of passion, like percolating pheromones, sun-caressed skin, and salty kisses, are combined with the lush aromas of Bali’s exotic landscape.

Top Notes: bergamot, red currant, mango blossom

Middle Notes: lisylang, Tiare, dewy jasmine

Base Notes: sandalwood, vetyver, velvet amber

Each fragrance comes in a 1 oz. spray bottle and is $32.  The candle set ($45) includes 3 petite candles, one in each fragrance and comes in a nice decorative box.

  • Everybody wants their skin to look flawless, right?  But it’s not that easy… with uneven skin tone, scars, rosacea etc. it can take a little bit more work.  Primers are the perfect helper!

Napoleon Perdis’ Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer leaves skin perfectly prepped for makeup that glides on and lasts longer, ensuring a gorgeous finish. AND, it’s good for your skin too! It is formulated with anti-free radical chamomile, yarrow and vitamin E, so it helps prevent premature skin aging while moisturizing and strengthening for an overall improvement in appearance and health.  It sells for $39 for 1.7 fl. oz.

Another great primer is Tarte’s Clean Slate. It smoothes and softens the skin, preparing it for flawless makeup application. It is a silicon-based formula that moisturizes with avocado oil and soothing tiredness, irritation and sallow skin with echinacea, rosemary and hibiscus oils. It is $30 for 1.16 fl. oz.

  • This fabulous Chanel nail color “Particuliere” is back in stock.  It’ is a dark taupe shade with a dash of mauve tone in it.  I got this color a couple of months ago, I got one of the last bottles (at the time) at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street.  I love it on my toenails (since I have very fair skin I prefer really light colors on my fingernails). It’s $23 at Chanel.com, you can purchase it here.  Sure, $23 is a lot for a nail polish, but the bottle is so elegant and Chanel colors are always the best so it’s a good splurge, n’ est pas?

Courteney Cox is wearing this color nail polish in her InStyle magazine photo shoot for August 2010.

  • Do you ever watch What Not To Wear and feel jealous of the great makeovers they get? (not to mention the $ they get for shopping!)  Well I do!  So it was nice to hear that Sephora is now offering makeovers (free with $50 product purchase).

However, I would be quite frightened if I ended up looking like the woman above!
