  • I’m a big fan of Fresh products, while a bit pricey, they are super high quality and all smell so wonderful!  I don’t think I’ve ever tried a Fresh product that I didn’t like.  They’ve come out with a great travel size skincare kit featuring their soy products.  It makes it so easy to pack, just grab and go!

    Soy Skincare Set, $38

It contains Soy Face Cleanser, Soy Face Exfoliant, Soy Face Serum and Soy Face Cream.  They’re all packed in a sleek little white zippered case.

They’ve also come out with a travel size of their Citron de Vigne fragrance in a convenient roller ball format.  This is great because fragrance is really difficult to travel with – - really, who hasn’t worried about their bottle breaking and having all your clothes perfume soaked!

Citron de Vigne Eau de Parfum Rollerball, $18.50.  If you’re not familiar with this fragrance, it has top notes of neroli, bitter orange and pink grapefruit; middle notes of Fresh’s pinot noir accord, jasmine tea leaves and lemongrass; and base notes: patchouli, sandalwood and amber.

There’s a special offer available now through the end of the day 9/24… with a $100 purchase and code CITRON at checkout you get free travel sizes of Citron de Vigne shower & bath gel and body lotion!

  • A while back I got a huge sample of Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask from Beauty.com.  The color of the mask (dark gray) is a little scary, but I figured I’d try it.  I’m glad I did!  I don’t have “problem skin” but who doesn’t want smaller pores?  Almost everyone has some larger pores on the sides of the nose, etc.  Well, I couldn’t believe what a good job it did!  You put it on your damp face after you’ve opened your pores with a warm wash cloth, as it dries you feel your skin tighten… it’s a weird feeling.  After it’s all dry, you rinse it off.  I definitely noticed a more refined looking skin tone!

At $21 for 3.4 fl. oz. it is also one of the better deals out there in the skincare world.  Here are the package details: When environmental toxins, dirt and debris get under your skin, its waste-filtering system gets jammed, pores get clogged, skin looks cloudy. Nature’s complexion clean-up crew gets to the bottom of skins overcast condition and clears the way for it to act its best. Activated Charcoal acts like a magnet to draw out deep-dwelling pore-cloggers, White China Clay absorbs environmental toxins, Lecithin dissolves impurities. Without all that “stuff” down there, skin “breathes a sigh of relief.”

I’m adding it to my skincare regime for sure!

  • If you feel that your skin is looking dull and needs a pick-me-up, an Oxygen mask is just the thing.  Of course you could treat yourself to a spa visit and spend upwards of $100, or you could try one of these products at home.

Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Engerzing Mask, $52 for 3.4 fl. oz. This Bliss product is designed to be a quick-fix for dull, tired, sallow, ‘I’m sick of my skin’ skin. It was engineered to mimic the effects of Bliss spa’s famous Triple Oxygen Treatment facial (but in seconds). It delivers a oxygen, Vitamin C, anti-free radicals, and moisture to the skin.

Peter Thomas Roth Radiance Oxygenating Masque, $50 for 3.4 fl. oz.  This product brightens, hydrates and oxygenates skin cells that may be compromised by environmental factors, to impart a visibly refined appearance and a polished rosy glow.  It’s good for all skin types and helps keep your skin soft, smooth and looking years younger.

  • Everybody wants their skin to look flawless, right?  But it’s not that easy… with uneven skin tone, scars, rosacea etc. it can take a little bit more work.  Primers are the perfect helper!

Napoleon Perdis’ Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer leaves skin perfectly prepped for makeup that glides on and lasts longer, ensuring a gorgeous finish. AND, it’s good for your skin too! It is formulated with anti-free radical chamomile, yarrow and vitamin E, so it helps prevent premature skin aging while moisturizing and strengthening for an overall improvement in appearance and health.  It sells for $39 for 1.7 fl. oz.

Another great primer is Tarte’s Clean Slate. It smoothes and softens the skin, preparing it for flawless makeup application. It is a silicon-based formula that moisturizes with avocado oil and soothing tiredness, irritation and sallow skin with echinacea, rosemary and hibiscus oils. It is $30 for 1.16 fl. oz.

  • Exfoliating is a must to keep your skin in top condition.  Here are a few exfoliators that I’ve tried, and like.  It’s always a treat to use a really expensive product, but it’s not a must – I find that the cheaper ones actually work just as well… although perhaps the ingredients aren’t as natural or special, but if you’re on a budget then I think it’s okay.  Better to care for your skin than go without because you can’t afford a $60 exfoliator!

Fresh make this wonderful Appleseed Brightening Exfoliant, it’s the $60 one though (for 3.4 oz or $17.65/oz)!  Eek!  Expensive, but it’s loaded with great ingredients like: pomegranate seeds, bamboo, citrus fruit acids, apple seed oil, strawberry and plum seed oils, evening primrose butter and mulberry root. The product gently sweep away dry, dull skin, leaving the complexion glowing and renewed. The various ingredients nourish and protect, enhance cell turnover, help to brighten and even skin tone and revitalize and softening the skin.

Also in the luxury range is Caudalie’s Gentle Buffing Cream.  It is $35 for 2 oz or $18.50/oz. (smaller bottle, but actually more expensive than the Fresh, double Eek!)  It is also loaded with great natural ingredients: grape-seed oil, jojoba microbeads, honey, plant cellulose, liquorice, essential oils of sweet lime and sandal wood, extracts of coriander, limette, lemon, guaiac wood, sweet orange, vetiver, sandal wood and lavandin… etc. etc. This rich scrub eliminates impurities, dead skin cells and excess oil while stimulating cellular renewal. Your complexion’s radiance is gently restored and your skin is soft and clean.

Among the bargain options are St. Ives Daily Microdermabrasion and Neutrogena’s Healthy Skin Scrub.

The St. Ives Daily Microdermabrasion ($7.99 for 4 oz or $1.99/oz) contains key ingredients of minerals, chamomile, silica and vitamin E. It exfoliates to reveal younger-looking, refined skin and is an Allure Editor’s Choice Award Winner.

Neutrogena’s Healthy Skin Scrub is $7.99 for 4.2 oz or $1.90/oz.  It’s key ingredients are salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acid and hydrating microbeads. It is the first 2-in-1 scrub to fight blemishes and the signs of aging for clearer, younger-looking skin. After use, skin is clearer, softer and smoother. Fine lines and wrinkles are visibly reduced.

Exfoliating is even more important in the Summer if you use self tanning products. They will go on much better and look more even.

  • I kind of hate traveling now since I have to check my bag so I can bring my boatload of skincare products.  So I was really happy to run across 3FLOZ.com a website that specializes in mini sizes (TSA approved).  They carry some good premium brands: Dr. Hauschka, DDF, Malin + Goetz, Molton Brown, Phyto, and more.  And you don’t even have to worry about the sizes, because everything they sell is in a TSA approved size.

I’m most picky about what I put on my face.  They have a few great kits that make it easy to have everything ready to go!

Ole Henriksen Starter Kit, $68.  It includes a cleanser, face tonic, day creme with spf, night cream, a mask and a scrub… talk about complete, that’s everything you need!

Dr. Hauschka Daily Face Care Kit, $30.  It comes with cleansing cream, cleansing milk, toner, 3 types of day cream.

The Malin + Goetz Essential Kit, $30 is good because it contains of couple of skincare items and hair and body items.  If you can get away with just a couple of products for your face, it’s great.  It has face cleanser, face moisturizer, body wash, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion.

If you want a kit just for your hair, the Ted Gibson Travel Essentials, $25 comes with shampoo, conditioner, hair spray and hair styling sheets.

Or, if you want to make up your own kit, mixing different brands and products you can buy individual items that are sold separately and customize your own travel kit!  The two founders of the company reveal their favorite products and you can buy those as kits too: Alexi’s Kit, $200 and Kate’s Kit, $81.

Oh, and these are brilliant even when you’re not traveling: Herban Essentials Hand Sanitizing Towelettes, $15 for a packet of 20.

Here’s to some good summer travels!
