Gap has a cool Fall lookbook on their website right now. I would describe the looks as slouchy, casual, cool – they describe them as “inspired by the girl who’s ready for anything”. Check out the lookbook here.
I really like the Leather Utility Jacket, $328. That’s a pretty good price for leather… although one could luck out and get it on sale later in the season.
I also like this Raw Edge Knit Scarf. It’s only $19.50 and it’s made of 100% modal, so it’s super soft and comfy. With really fine silk scarves (like Hermes) you end up worrying about them when you wearing them, but something like this is great, no fuss, no worries. (sorry, that comparison was apples and oranges but you know what I mean)

Bloomingdale’s is having a big sale this weekend. Select items are up to half off.
There’s still plenty of time this Summer for flip flops, so how about these Diane Von Furstenberg rubber/leather flip flops? They’re usually $65 and now only $32.50, half off!
This Juicy Couture lady lock bag is on its second markdown, so it’s actually way below half price! The original price was $228, first markdown $171, and now it’s only $85.50. What a steal. It’s a great smaller size for evening, or other times when you just want a smaller bag to carry. It is 10.5″ wide by 7″ high.
These Current/Elliott denim leggings with side zippers are down to $138.60 from $231. With trendy items like this it’s good to get them on sale because you don’t know for sure if you’ll want to wear them next year. The side zippers are such a throw back for me… because I had some jeans like that in junior high school!

As I mentioned in a recent post, Gap is doing a really great campaign for their Born to Fit 1969 denim line. They’re featuring a bunch of top models. Well, when I saw the image featuring Isabeli Fontana, the first thing I really thought was, I want that shirt!
It hadn’t been available, but I’ve been checking back and it’s now available online!
It could have simply been made out of cotton, but even better, it is made of a rayon/tencel blend (70/30) so it’s super soft and has excellent drape. It is $34.50 (Sleeveless Cowlneck Top), and is available in white only.
It is also available in a short-sleeved version (Cowlneck T), also $34.50. This one is available in black, white and flint gray (show below).

J. Crew’s August catalog is featuring a gorgeous photo shoot in the Arizona desert and rock canyons. This photo below with the fabulous Minnie pant in wool was photographed in the Antelope Canyon.
They’ve updated the Minnie pant for Fall with a 2-way stretch wool/lycra fabric. They’re $98 and come in 5 colors: cobblestone, henna, black, heathered charcoal and parsley.
Also of note is that they’ve finally done heels over 4″ high! Yay! J. Crew, in the past, has tended to stick with lower heels generally between 3 and 4″, which is just not high enough for some of us heel lovers! Below is the Coddington Suede Platform Pump, $228. It has a 4-1/8″ heel with a 3/4″ platform. They are made in Italy too!

Gap has been heavily advertising a new selection of jeans in August magazines featuring models Sasha Pivovarova, Isabeli Fontana, Constance Jablonski, Shu-Pei, Jasmine Tooks and Anja Rubik (shown below) in a “Born To Fit – America’s Best Fitting Premium Jeans” campaign. The jeans look pretty good! But how couldn’t they, I suppose, with those models!
She is wearing the Zip Crop Always Skinny Jean. These seem to be sold out online right now, but a similar jean with cool zip pockets is still available for $69.50. (Always Skinny Zipper Pocket Jeans)
They’re also featuring a lot of legging jeans, aka jeggings! Yikes, I guess this was bound to happen. I’ve never tried these on, so I won’t comment yet. Here’s what they say about them: “Meet our new denim leggings. They’re super skinny, supersoft, and have the perfect dose of stretch for an incredibly smooth finish”. This pair (below) is the Legging Jean in Faded Dark Wash, $69.50. I guess they don’t look that much different than your standard fitted skinny jeans, I assume they have more stretch in them…
Anyway, here’s the scoop on the new jeans:
- redesigned to fit true to size similar to standard designer jeans
- premium stretch denim jeans retains its shape
- the water used in the process of washing and dyeing these jeans has been specially treated to ensure it is safe and clean when it leaves the factory -

Liv Tyler recently wore Givenchy’s striking striped jacket at an event at LA’s Museum of Contemporary Art. A very similar jacket, and much less expensive one, is available at Anthropologie!
Here’s the jacket on the Givenchy runway. Givenchy Ottoman Stitch Stripe Jacket. It sold for $1,270, and seems to be sold out now.
Anthropologie’s version does not have the shoulder pads, which many of us may prefer anyway. (Sorry, I’m still not ready for shoulder pads yet, I unfortunately still remember the ’80s!)
Hello Sunday Blazer, $98 at Anthropologie.

This morning theOutnet.com has an AMAZING deal on a gorgeous Vanessa Bruno leather jacket! This buttery soft jacket is normally $975 (way more than most of us would spend on a jacket, right?) but it’s on sale now for just $341.25! 65% off!
HUURY, before it sells out! They’ve also got a bunch of knit tees, etc. by Vanessa Bruno for as low as $22, check it out here.

I was at the Gap over the long holiday weekend and I was kind of surprised to find a bunch of things I really liked!
We’re seeing white denim everywhere for SS2010, and Gap has a great skinny version: Cropped Skinny Jeans in White Wash, $69.50. I really like that they’re cropped since that shows off strappy sandals better. (I had to cut off her feet because they were showing these with some really ugly boots!)
They are showing them rolled, which is optional. Personally, I prefer them down. They are really low on small sizes, I got the last pair of size 0s that had to be taken off a mannequin! Online they only have sizes 12 – 20 right now, but hopefully they’ll be getting more. They have a great fit and the fabric (99% cotton, 1% elastane) has a good quality hand to it.
This striped shirt has that French sailor look that’s very popular right now. The cut is nice too because if you size up, you could easily wear it as a beach cover-up over a bathing suit. Nautical Tunic Top, $39.50.
I’m also liking their Favorite Ribbed Tank, $10 right now. They change this every year or so… I like the pretty thin (but not too thin) fabric and longer length that is has now. At the store there are a ton more colors than there are online!
This Drape Front Cardigan, $69.50 is made with a super soft blend of cotton, modal and silk! I love comfy sweaters like this that you can just throw on when you’re chilled from excessive air conditioning.

Madewell (J.Crew’s sister brand) has finally switched over their website from being informational to e-tail. The site is set up very much like J. Crew’s…
Their looks to me seem to be very similar to J.Crew, perhaps a little younger, more “downtown” vibe, less girly? Here are some looks from their “Looks We Love“.
above, academy blazer, $168
above, dustbowl denim shirt, (no longer available)
above, railstraight cutoffs, $98

Great news if you need to stock up on some warmer weather items, Banana is offering 25% off through Sunday 5/23. If you’re shopping online use code: SUMMER25.
Here are some examples of the deals to be had:
I love stocking up on tank tops, I must have 20 of them because I always buy several when I find one that I like. Their timeless tank comes in 6 colors and the cut is really nice. Regular $20, sale $15.
This dress is super cute for bumming around on the weekends, I’d just wear it with flip flops. Twist Back Day Dress. Regular $69.50, Sale $52.13.
This gold skirt is interesting because it’s got a casual shape but the gold makes it a bit fancy. You could easily pair it with a simple tank top and pile on some dramatic jewelry and wear it to go out! It’s part of the Banana Republic Monogram Collection: Gold Sandstorm Skirt. Regular $89.50, Sale $67.13.
