A pretty lace dress is a wonderful thing to wear during the holiday season. Lace is dressy and feminine, and also happens to be trendy right now.
Here is a gorgeous lace dress from Sue Wong, Lace Sheath Dress, $335. The detailing of the lace is incredibly beautiful, you can tell it’s nicer than average quality – thus the price.
But… if you don’t think you will wear the dress that many times, it’s sensible to go for a lower priced alternative. Here is one from Ann Taylor Loft, Lace Scallop Dress, $98. It has a scalloped raw lace edge at the hem. It’s also a gorgeous dress and at well over $200 less, it’s also a smart buy!

Drapey Grecian goddess dresses have been in style for quite a while now. We’ve seen so many fancy dresses in this style on the runway and red carpet over the last couple of years – so it’s nice to have casual versions of the same. Here are some great options in comfy jersey.

Katy Perry is wearing a beautiful Nanette Lepore dress on the June cover of Lucky magazine.
The one-shouldered design is very of-the-moment. The dress is $298, it is called the “Knot so Fast” dress. It’s a cotton/polyurethane blend. The color Katy is wearing is called Hot Tamale. It’s a very bright red, thankfully for the less bold among us, Bloomingdale’s also has it in black.
The detailing is really nice!

We’ve all seen these pictures from the upcoming Sex and the City 2 movie (opens May 28th), with Carrie wearing this cute (retro, but not too) white Halston dress…
Well, I just saw it in the window this morning at BigDrop on 3rd Avenue between 75th and 76th Streets. It is $325 and is from the Halston Heritage collection.
You can also get it a Neiman Marcus and Net-a-porter.
It’s also being featured in the movie poster, so when that starts going up in advance of the movie release it will probably sell out! So if you want one, HURRY and buy it before the movie comes out!

I guess I’m a bit behind here, but I’ve not been that familiar with Vanessa Bruno. She’s a French designer. She does two collections: Vanessa Bruno (more expensive) and Vanessa Bruno Athé. In all fairness, her distribution is not as mainstream as many brands. You can find her at Stylebop, Net-a-porter, Yoox… She has boutiques in Australia, France, Japan, Kuwait, South Korea and Taiwan. She has a pretty cool video on her website right now featuring the perhaps a bit jolie laide, yet compelling Lou Doillon.

Lace has been popular with the designers over the last couple of years. Remember Prada’s gorgeous lace for Fall ‘08?

Well, it’s still going strong. Kelly Ripa recently wore Stella McCartney’s beautiful lace dress to a Letterman appearance. (Stella herself wore the jumpsuit version ($4,815) in black to the Met’s Costume Institute Ball last year)
