  • Almost everything is on sale at Ross Simons, 25% off!  Items on their website are shown with the discount. (if sale prices aren’t showing use code: SUPERSALE, through 6/10)

I like this 5 carat smoky quartz ring with diamond accents in 14k gold. It’s normally $385, on sale for $288.75!

These sapphire earrings have 1.75 carats of sapphires and diamond accents in 14 k white gold.  They’re normally $295, on sale $221.25.

This is a quirky item – they’ve obviously “borrowed” the look from Vuitton!  Pink Opal Heart Pendant with 18k gold butterflies and diamond accents, regular $1650, sale $1237.50.

Here’s what I’m talking about, regarding the Vuitton look – it’s not exactly the same but they have the same vibe…

This is the Louis Vuitton Farandole Bracelet, $420.

  • Today it’s finally feeling like Spring again!  (only a month now until Summer)  Something about great weather inspires color… I’m not big on color, but I think a dash here or there to brighten an outfit is perfect!

Here are a few subtle options:

Overstock.com has a deal on this Fendi bag ($962.99) with bright blue detailing.

This turquoise necklace with a clover shape and a 14k gold chain is reminiscent of Van Cleef and Arpel’s Alhambra Collection, but for a lot less!  It comes in three lengths: 16″ for $145, 18″ for $150 and 20″ for $155.

This clutch ($212) by Pietro Alessandro is in an unusual shade of blue and features pyramid studs and a zipper closure.

These beautiful blue topaz earrings ($475) have 2 shades of blue (the darker is called London blue topaz), they’re on 14k gold earwires.

  • I was in Chicago over the weekend and I finally got to see the giant bean in Millennium Park!

Here’s one of my pictures.  (too bad it was such a gray day)

The perfect souvenir for a visit to the giant bean is a Tiffany Elsa Peretti Bean Pendant!  ($250)  They’d be smart to have a mini boutique nearby that sold all of the bean items of which there are several (cufflinks, earrings, rings, bracelets), you can see them all here.

  • Blue Nile now has some necklaces that look very much like Tiffany’s classic Elsa Peretti Diamonds by the Yard necklaces.  The stones aren’t quite as good quality, but they’re much less expensive…

Here is Blue Nile’s 2 carat t.w. 18-inch long necklace in 18k yellow gold.  It is $3,850.

To compare, a similar 1.54 carat t.w. necklace also in 18k gold but with a 16″ chain from Tiffany is $6,300.  A 2.70 carat t.w. version is $13,000.  Tiffany does not do theirs in white gold, you have to go to platinum.  The 1.54 carat t.w. in platinum is $6,900 and the 2.70 carat t.w. in platinum is $15,000.  True, we are not comparing apples to apples.  The stones Blue Nile uses are clarity SI2 and color grade H – I, whereas Tiffany uses a higher quality stone of clarity VS and same color grade of H – I.

If you want white gold at Blue Nile, they have it also in 18k.  They offer the white gold version in 1 carat, 2 carat and 3 carat versions available for $1,950, $3,850 and $5,700 respectively.

  • As we all know, J. Crew has been doing some cool collaborations for a while.  The latest, Fenton/Fallon for J. Crew, is a collaboration with Dana Lorenz who designs Fenton and Fallon jewelry collections (2 separate collections).  She started Fenton in 2005, and Fallon in 2007.  Fenton is fine jewelry and luxury accessories.  Here is a piece from her Fenton Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

Fallon is a lower priced collection with a rocker-chic vibe (graphic, bold, young).  Here is a bracelet from the Spring/Summer 2010 Fallon line:

There are eight pieces in the Fenton/Fallon collection for J. Crew (at least that’s what they have on the website now):

They are definitely very interesting and unique pieces!  Look at the detail, here of the Carrington side drape necklace.  It has glass crystals and a tangle of chains in brass and silver plated steel.

  • I’m not really a St. Patrick’s Day person (sorry, no green beer for me, no beer at all for that matter!) … but it does make you think about green things… like EMERALDS!  Remember Angelina’s amazing (and huge) emerald earrings at the Oscars last year? Wow!  But they must have hurt her ears, you can’t wear earrings that heavy for too long…

    joli_emer.jpg

Here are some from Blue Nile with diamonds that us mere mortals have a chance of being able to afford: Pear-Shaped Emerald and Diamond Drop Earrings, $1,210.

These are pretty small though, they are just under a 1/2 an inch tall… but still very pretty and elegant!
