Army style and Utility jackets are all over the place this Fall. It’s a practical purchase also, because next season and next year it may not be ‘trendy’ but these jackets are really staples so you can wear them forever. It’s a pretty classic look.
Vince Cotton Utility Jacket, $395
Marc by Marc Jacobs Twill Military Jacket, $300
Michael Stars Johanna Military Jacket, $248
J. Crew Waxed Utility Jacket, $148

Among J. Crew’s new arrivals are this beautiful French Lace Camisole, made with real hand finished lace from France. It is a rather shocking $695! It is part of the more expensive J. Crew Collection.
Here are some options for getting the lacey look for less:
Marc by Marc Jacobs Bronte Lace Top, $398.
Free People Lace Camisole, $48
Casual Couture Lace Tiered Camisole, Regular $108, sale $39.99
Shopstyle has tons more options here. Just remember, lace should be worn judiciously so it doesn’t look too boudoir.

I’m not much into ballet flats personally. I have no use for flats aesthetically, but they are practical. The ballet flat craze is… well, crazy! I much prefer the look of the ballet slipper on heels! I’ve found a few!
Christian Louboutin Georgineta, $795.
Christian Louboutin Lolo, $795.
Marc by Marc Jacobs, Bow Hidden Platform Pumps, $350
In the lower price points, I am not finding exactly the right thing…
These are close, and very inexpensive!
Tahari Ta-Desiree Pump, $44. The heel is too low though… (only 3″). But they definitely have the ballet slipper look.
These are even less expensive, but they have the peep toe…
Charlotte Russe Bowtie Pumps, $24.50

I love how Shopbop does various look books and trend guides. Right now they have a new Marc by Marc Jacobs look book for Spring 2010.
I have to say that the Spring collection is a bit frightful. The 80s redux mixed with the just plain ugly is not a look I’m going for right now. Perhaps this is targeted to younger girls who don’t have actual fashion memories of the horrific ’80s. But at price points like $268 for some dhoti pants (diamond stripe pants), $158 for some pleated shorts (twill shorts) and $358 for perhaps the most hideously ugly sweater (iggy sweater) I’ve ever seen… I’m not sure how younger girls could afford this, or that their Moms would want to buy it for them.
Here are a few of the looks:
Net-a-porter’s Marc by Marc Jacobs selection seems to be a little bit more well edited. View here. I actually like a few things, like this Printed Jersey Dress, $200, for example.
